Band
Biography:
Listing Tim Burton, vinyl records and Atari 2600 as their main influences, Los Angeles based THE ANIX has managed to carve out a strange newfangled syle of music in the world of Alternative Rock.
Beginning in 2004 with the formation of these eccentric lads, THE ANIX was a bizarre hybrid of new wave dance beats, sub-suburban art-core and synth rock ass kicking. As if that weren’t enough, these fixations were filtered through the band’s love of classic grind house flicks, sinister 80’s influenced culture and generally all things A Clockwork Orange. The band’s unique visual style stems from everyone’s unrivaled and disturbingly copasetic delusions: album art, T-shirts, stage shows and music videos. These guys at times seem possessed with their passion to create great music along with a commitment to go against the grain of every stereotype.
Browsing through your dictionary of electronica and dissonance you can find THE ANIX smack dab in the middle of hallucinations and avant-guarde wet dreams. However, they harness all the gothesque mind twisting sequences with transitions of serene melodies and incredible musical performances.
Bored with the same old synth pop sound, Brandon Smith (vocals/guitar), Logan Smith (drums) and Greg Nabours (synthesizer) consciously took an approach to add the notion "What would Sweeney Todd: The Demon of Fleet Street do?” to give the band a different dimension to their classic new wave sound.
This brainchild eventually led them to express sawtooth synthetic ideas through old school synths, analog keyboards and vocoders. Ultimately, adding an unpredictable texture over an onslaught of electric guitars and soaring vocals. Basically, cultivating the sound that has brought them to their latest release “Demolition City”.
THE ANIX has solidified a fanbase in the Northeast while grinding it out from the south all the way across to California and back through the midwest. THE ANIX has sold over 4500 independent CD’s and is getting ready to hit the road for a full year in support of their Chamberlain Records debut “Demolition City” set for release on June 17th 2008. Passionate but not trite, interesting but not reactionary, exciting and endlessly listenable THE ANIX do not suck...
